The core work is actually reshaped from engaging organizational leaders from what to do and what to expect by empowering them to think their way through the problem. DEBLAR asked, “What do you think, exactly, is the roadblock or the problem here? What were your first thoughts about coming to resolution?” DEBLAR not only help leaders arrive at a good answer, but the process is developmental; helping leaders do things over time.
Professional Development Boot Camp
DEBLAR’s thirty years of experience working with organizations has equipped us to create a rigorous full-day boot camp for leaders and managers to develop their personal and professional ability to operate at peak efficiency.
Effective individual or team performance is based on a clear understanding of shared goals, strategies, and work plans, along with the individual roles and responsibilities of team members. Equally important and far too often marginalized are interpersonal qualities of trust, communication, mutual accountability, and inclusion. By working in tandem, these two perspectives can undergird a team member’s ability to achieve and sustain high performance, elevate team building as a necessary companion to strengthening the operational and programmatic efforts of organizational capacity, and assist in identifying qualities associated with personal professionalism.
We at DEBLAR have found that although individual and team development is something that is often ignored within organizations or projects it is the corner stone of professionalism. Staff usually has little conscious awareness of the skills and tools needed to nurture collegial relationships. Leaders and managers are rarely prepared to understand the dynamics of team formation and staff motivation or respond appropriately to the emerging needs of a team. Too frequently, conflict is either ignored or suppressed, attributed to individual differences and difficulties. As a result, internal team process can become a liability to performance, leading to low productivity, low morale, and high staff turnover. However, with increased awareness of basic skills and tools for addressing common challenges, these same dynamics can be turned into a source of continued team enhancement.
DEBLAR’s Professional Development Boot Camp will help individual staff members promote and practice key skills needed to address the inevitable challenges that arise in teams, notably, appreciating individual differences, communicating collaboratively, and managing conflict.
